His first career turning role in the film Zanjeer was offered to Raj Kumar and Dev Anand. Both the actors rejected the position as the hero had no songs to sing in the movie. Refused by Heroines
None of the A-list heroines wanted to play along with the newbie in Zanjeer. Only the superstar actress Jaya Bhaduri agreed to do so. Jaya later confessed that there was no role worth taking in Zanjeer, and she would not have taken the role if it was not for her boyfriend.
The first time Jaya Bhaduri and Amitabh were supposed to play together was for Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi. Amitabh was supposed to play the small role of Jaya’s fiancée, but the director decided to sign Samir Bhanja for the part of the fiancée. He said he had bigger plans for Amitabh.
