On 22 March, the sunday was nothing like an ordinary sunday as at 5pm, the entire nation stepped out to their balconies and terraces to express their gratitude towards the medical professionals, nurses and other responders for working tirelessly in these times of crisis.
Bollywood celebrities also joined the public to support the PM Narendra Modi’s thoughtful initiative. From Hritik Roshan to Akshay Kumar to Deepika Padukone, all B-town stars thanked professionals who are working relentlessly to combat coronavirus crisis. The celebs shared their vidoes and pictures displaying how they supported the noble motive.
The Rustom actor Akshay Kumar participated enthusiastically and shared his video in which he and his neighbours can be seen clapping and beating plates as a thanking gesture. He wrote, “5 mins at 5 pm : With my neighbours taking a moment to appreciate those who do not have this luxury of staying at home and working tirelessly to keep us safe. Thank you to all the essential service providers for your selfless work. #JanataCurfew #BreakCorona @hrithikroshan #SajidNadiadwala (sic).”
Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Aradhya were also seen on their terrace clapping and cheering for the hard-working professionals who are dealing with the crisis on the frontline. Aishwarya shared the photo and wrote, “God Bless.”
Shahrukh Khan also expressed his gratitude and took to social media and wrote, “InshaAllah #JantaCurfew will help against the spread of virus, though we may have to do this again. The clapping brought so much cheer. So a reminder of safeguards, with some cheer… Pls take it in the right spirit. To all relentlessly working today – Extremely Grateful. Thx! (sic).”
Varun Dhawan took to social media to cheer for media professionals and other warriors who are working diligently in these hard times. Sharing the video, he wrote, #JANTACURFEW we will have to do this for longer. Everyone who is my age please keep your parents safe. I applaud the heroes fighting this virus.”
