Amongst the world’s oldest cultures, Indias culture is the most prominent. In India civilization began about 4,500 years ago and many describe it as the first and the most supreme culture in the world. 

India has made significant progress in mathematics like the invention of zero, in architecture like building Taj mahal and in medicine with Ayurveda. With more than 1.2 billion people, India is a very diverse country, with different region having their own culture, food, language and its arts.

The birthplace of Buddhism and Hinduism, which is the third and the fourth largest religions. With 84 percent of Indians identified as Hindu and 13 percent as Muslims making it the largest Islamic nations in the world. Very small percentage of the population are Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains.

Indian Cuisine has been widely influenced by the Mughal invasion of India in the sixteenth century. Not just Mughal influence but many other countries have left a significant mark on Indian cuisine. Known for its spices and herbs our cooking styles vary from region to region. Indian cuisine is rich with spices and wheat, Rice being staple in most of the nation. Curries have been very important, and many regions have their own take on chutneys which is a thick condiment and spread made with different vegetables and herbs. Indian Food is preferably eaten with hands and not many households use cutlery.

Hindi being the national language of India, it is not just Hindi that is spoken widely in the country. India has about 29 states and 7 Union territories.  23 Languages are spoken and recognized by the constitution of India. Around 59 percent speak languages other than Hindi. Languages like Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu are spoken in the country.

You can see elements of Persian, Islamic, Ottoman, Turkish and Indian architectural styles. India is a home to many ancient temples. We have a lot of distinct art forms and dance forms, like Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, odissi etc.
