The coronavirus pandemic is spreading at a rapid rate. Over 200 countries got affected by the novel virus. Government and state agencies are taking series of initiatives to combat the deadly disease but it is really important for us to be very careful. An important step in taking care of yourself is to disinfectant your gadgets as they are “high touch surfaces”. Other than washing your hands, keeping your gadgets free of pathogens and viruses is vital in this fight against coronavirus.
Here are some things that you need to keep in mind while cleaning your gadgets:
1) Unplug all cables before you start the cleaning process
Before you begin to disinfect your phone, unplug all cables. If your phone has a removable battery, it’s best to remove it while cleaning the phone.
2) Don’t forget to use screen protector
Some smartphone brands offer fingerprint resistant coating on their gadgets, which are prone to damage by abrasive cleaning agents. To be on a safer side, use a screen protector before using a disinfectant.
3) No water or solution should enter the openings in your device
You need to make sure water or any other solution does not drip into USB port, microphone or any other openings in your device.
4) Say no to cleaning products
Apple explained in its guidelines on the official website. To quote, “Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean your iPhone.”
It’s best to use a solution of water and 70% isopropyl alcohol.
5) Use disinfectant wipes
Disinfectant wipes used to clean skin and surfaces can also be used to disinfect the non-porous surfaces of your mobile phone and other gadgets.
6) Microfiber cloth for a non-scratchy disinfection
One of the most preferred wipe to clean the gadget surfaces are microfiber cloth. For best results, use a slightly damp microfiber cloth.
7) Make sure all the surfaces are dry before re-plugging
