As we all know, the new year is approaching. Everyone is expecting that 2021 will be going to be better than this year. So there is a need for a fresh start and something which we should promise to ourselves and try to follow it the whole year. In simple words, we must have some new year resolution to maintain our health. So today, I will discuss some new year resolutions that you must try to follow.
1. Eat more whole foods
Health is wealth. Everyone has heard this phrase, but still, many people do not focus on their health. There is a need to keep ourselves healthy to achieve our goals. So we have to start this process from the very basic that is from our food. Whole food means vegetables, nuts, fruits, seeds, whole grains, fish, and many more things. In simple words, we have to eat homemade food and avoid junk food because the whole food is very beneficial for our heart and body.
2. Sit less and move more
One of the major issues that affect our health is laziness and the inactive state of our body. Sitting for a more extended period can increase the risk of mortality. So there is a need to do exercise or a walk for at least 30 minutes to keep yourself healthy and free from diseases every day.
3. Cut back on sweetened beverages
We all love sweets and desserts because they are delicious. We can eat them in a limited amount, but excess consumption of sweets and desserts is very harmful. Sweet beverages are the leading cause of many health-related problems like obesity, fatty liver, heart disease, insulin resistance, and cavities. So we must try to limit the use of sweet beverages to maintain a healthy life.
4. Get more quality sleep
In today’s time, we give the least priority to sleep. We all are always busy with our phones for entertainment, work, etc. Many people use to work whole night on their project and assignments to achieve their goal and success.
But the thing which we forget here is sleep, which is directly connected to our health. Lack of sleep is related to many problems like weight gain, depression, heart disease, and many more things. An adult needs at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep every day to maintain a healthy lifestyle. There are many ways to increase your sleep time, like cut down the use of caffeine, try to go to bed at the proper time, try to sleep in a dark room, maintain hygiene, etc.
5. Find a physical activity that you enjoy
One of the simplest and most comfortable things to maintain our health is to do physical activity. Every year, many people purchase a gym membership, but for many reasons, they do not get the time to go there. It is not necessary that going to the gym is the only way to keep ourselves fit. There were many alternatives, like going jogging, walking, cycling, swimming, etc. You can also play some sports, like tennis, cricket, football, etc. You must try to practice that activity you like the most because you can enjoy and maintain your health at the same time without any burden.
