Akshay Kumar’s Take On Donating 25 Crore To PM Modi’s Fund For COVID19 Relief Donation


Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is being hugely applauded for his donation of 25 crore to PM Modi’s Care Fund to combat the battle the country is fighting against coronavirus pandemic. His wife Twinkle Khanna was spreading the word about his generous donation. The writer and columnist took to Twitter to laud Akshay’s action and wrote that she was very proud of him. She also shared that the Rustom actor didn’t think twice before making the donation.

In an interview with a news portal, when asked about his donation, Akshay said that this wasn’t his contribution, this was his mother’s to Bharat Maa. He further added he cannot really put into words the reason behind contribution to a cause like this.

To elaborate further, the actor expressed that there is a widespread fear that the senior population of the country might be isolated, ignored and left to fend for themselves during this coronavirus disease. Though, he cannot imagine how people can even think like that. He further added that the life of his mother is important to him and so is the life of every other parent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also applauded the actor for his generosity. His tweet says, “Great gesture @AkshayKumar. Let’s keep donating for a healthier India.”

After Akshay Kumar, other bollywood celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Bhumi Pednekar, Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Shilpa Shetty and many other celebs stood up and donated for the cause. Shilpa Shetty pledged to donate a sum of 21 lakhs to the relief fund. She announced it on Twitter and also urged other people to donate. She tweeted, “For humanity, our country, & fellow citizens that need us; now is the time, let’s do our bit.@TheRajKundra& I pledge 21 lacs to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Every drop in the ocean counts, so I urge you all to help fight this situation. #IndiaFightsCorona @PMOIndia.”

On Saturday, the Prime Minister declared to the public about the PM cares Fund. He urged people from all walks of life to express their desire to donate so as to fight this pandemic. He shared a link about the fund and expressed that the fund accepts micro donation as well. His tweet read, “It will strengthen disaster management capacities and encourage research on protecting citizens.”
